The updated classic wallet
At first sight is the Hide & Seek Wallet a regular bifold wallet. It has the typical simple and sleek design of Bellroy.
Design
The design refers pretty much to a classic bifold wallet. The design is decent and looks classy. Thanks to some details like the metal Bellroy logo, the wallet has a rather high-end feeling to it.
Quality & finish
It has the typical Bellroy soft-touch leather. According to their website they only use premium top-grain leathers. The finishing was quite rough. There were a lot of loose threads in the card slots, which made the whole seem a bit messy and gives the perception of being ill constructed.
Storage capacity
Inside the wallet opens up about its special features. When you open the wallet you see three card slots on the right. Those are designed with the primary cards in mind. This is the place for your everyday cards so that you have easy access to them.
On the left side there are two card slots, designed for the cards that you don’t use that frequently. You can stack them together for storage. These slots are more spacious.
There is also a bill compartment with one card slot and one sim card compartment. The compartment is very spacious, but the SIM card compartment doesn’t seem easy to reach. Bellroy has two versions of the wallet, a low and a high version. The low version is the best fit for US dollars, Australian dollars, Canadian dollars, New Zealand dollars, Russian Rubles and currencies up to 74 mm. The high version is the best fit for Euros, Great Britain Pounds, Japanese Yen, Singapore Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, and all other currencies.
Features
The special feature with this wallet is the hidden note compartment. Behind a flap there’s another note compartment, where you can store additional notes and coins, which you don’t want to show directly when opening the wallet.
Usability
The wallet is easy to use in general, although the hidden compartment isn’t that easy to use. I found it quite difficult to use when putting the bills in. You can’t really open it discretely when using it.
Innovation
This hidden compartment is certainly a novelty. It’s the first wallet I see with something like it. Although it’s not that easy to use, I can imagine that some people might find this very handy.
Final verdict
It’s a very appealing wallet, with a lot of nice features. A lot of space for cards and bills, and in addition to this, also the special feature of the hidden bill compartment. Very convenient for the moments you carry along more cash than you want to show.
