This month I also made a selection of 5 Kickstarter wallet projects that are, in my opinion, worthy to back. Here we go, in random order:

1. DJIN – Koala-Gear

The Wallet, perfected.

The guys from Koale-Gear already had a successful Kickstarter project for the backpack Joey, in which they rethinked the backpack. This time they’re back to redesign the concept ‘wallet’. As they state it: “Your wallet is with you all day, everyday. It should be the right one.”

DJIN is an interesting looking wallet that has a clip for cards and bills, a slide pocket for your coins, keys and USB sticks and a concealed stash-drawer for extra-valuable items. So, that really seems like a lot of functionality for one wallet.

The designers wanted to create the perfect wallet, as today’s wallets are either bulky and uncomfortable or way too minimal. They wanted to design a wallet that’s secure but easy to access, light but substantial, tiny but large enough for everything you need.

This is how they’ve done it. First of all the access of the wallet is quick and easy; you open, fan and tilt it, so you can see everything in the palm of your hand.

With the pocket for coins, keys and USB sticks it is easy to find all these things by sliding them out of the pocket. Easy indeed! The clip used to store your cards and bills, adjusts itself to your needs. Arrange 10 cards, 20 bills or any combination of the two. And last but not least there’s also a concealed drawer. This is for very small items that are valuable or precious, that you want to keep extra close.

The DJIN also comes with its own Koala-Gear RFID-blocking card. Just put it in front of any RFID cards you have in the stack and free yourself from worrying about your information being stolen. The card will protect all the cards behind it and the first card in front of it.

DJIN was designed to have a perfect close. On the millimeter. The corners are magnetic, giving you satisfying feedback every time you close your wallet, and keeping your valuables secure. Don’t worry, unlike other magnetic wallets, DJIN’s magnets are strategically placed so they will not demagnetize your cards.

So, these are the technical specifications: it weighs 60 gr. and measures 1.4-1.9 x 6 x 9 cm. You have the choice between a textured lambskin, top-grain leather or durable polyester microfiber (the vegan option).

With still 39 days to go, they already reached $217,612, which is a whopping 1028.4% funding of their initial goal of $25,000! Check the project out here!

2. MNML Wallet – MNML Leather

The World’s Slimmest RFID Leather Wallet

Fast, functional, fashion forward and 100% environmentally friendly. MNML is everything other luxury wallets aren’t.

This Kickstarter project was launched the 10^th of July and raised already 35% of the initial goal of CA$ 25,000. With 44 days to go, this project should be able to get fully funded.

This wallet comes in two sizes: the small one, MNML, measures 9.9 x 6.7 x 0.7 cm and can hold 3-5 cards. The bigger one, MNML+, measures 10.8 x 6.7 x 1.3 cm and can hold 5-11 cards.

The wallet has a quick, easy access system for your card you use the most, while keeping your other cards RFID protected. It also gives you easy access to your cash.

The MNML wallet also comes with a tracking system from TrackR. Very handy for those people who always tend to loose their wallet…

Each wallet is handmade with the most ethically sourced leather in the world. The leather is vegetable tanned. They also source leather from cattle that died a natural death, so that MNML wallet has a real minimal impact on the environment.

The wallet comes in two styles, standard and patina, which is hand painted.

3. PITAKA New Wallet – PITAKA

Redefine Carbon Fiber Wallet

This wallet, named the PITAKA New Wallet, keeps all your daily essentials secure and in a quick flick.

The creators launched this project on the 27 June and after only 8 hours they reached their initial goal of $15,000. Now they’re at 600% funding! An amazing success!

Made from 100% carbon fiber, the PITAKA New Wallet is slim, strong and stylish.

The wallet is designed with 6 modules. It can take up to 10 cards, as well as cash, keys, coins, SD cards and other things! The modules are interconnected with strong materials, that don’t interfere with the magnetic strips on your cards. They have a special Anti-Degaussing module to prevent this. The PITAKA New Wallet is super easy to open and allows you to access the cards within seconds. Your cards are also protected by the RFID-Blocking technology.

On their Kickstarter page, you’ll find the different models. The PITAKA New Wallet includes one cover module, one extra layer and one anti-degaussing module. This wallet can carry up to 6 cards. The PITAKA Lite comes with one cover module and one anti-degaussing module. The Lite version can carry up to 4 cards. The Pitaka Deluxe comes with one cover module, two extra layers, and one anti-degaussing module for up to 8 cards.

And if you choose for the PITAKA Splurge Edition you get all the modules of PITAKA, with an anti-degaussing module, a money clip module for your bills, a box layer for your coins, keys, SD cards and other daily essentials and a tool card that consists of a screw driver and a bottle opener.

For those who want to carry more cards with them, pick up an extra layer or two, perfect for expanding your new wallet… And the team created also a magnetic bar, where all your metal and magnetic stuff can park over the night.

The PITAKA New Wallet measures 10.2 x 6.8 x 0.8 (4 cards) – 1.2 (6 cards) – 1.6 (8 cards) cm. The 4 cards option weighs 75 gr., the 6 cards 90 gr. and the 8 cards 105 gr.

4. Swift – Vinco Life

The World’s First Rapid Access Wallet

If you’re looking to an easy access bifold wallet, than this project might just be what you’re looking for! It maintains a very slim design while it’s very user-friendly. The wallet comfortably fits 15 bills, 10 cards and 5 coins, but can hold a maximum of 25 bills, 14 cards and 10 coins. It measures open 18 x 10 cm and closed 9 x 10 cm. It has a thickness of 1 cm.

The wallet provides RFID protection, so you can securely store your cards. It’s made of full grain vegetable tanned leather, sourced from Florence, Italy..

The innovative feature of this wallet is that you can reach your bills by sliding your thumb, up and down to reach for your money. You also have four handy slots to store your most used cards. Two back slots are added to easily store your business cards. On the back there’s also a card slot to fly by contactless scanners without taking out your card or it can also be used to store your coins.

With 10 days to go, you still can back this project. They already reached 260% of funding of their initial £10,000 goal.

5. Belgravia – KKMC

The Luxury Aluminum Coin, Note and Card Wallet

Started on 30^th of June as a Kickstarter project, they were already totally funded the 3^rd of July. Now they’ve reached £18,234 to a £12,500 goal.

The creators of this wallet describe this product as the distinctive RFID blocked card wallet that uses an elastic strap to hold cards, notes and coins to a beautifully machined aluminum body. The least you can say about this wallet is that it’s a very sleak and modern looking card holder. Its simplicity makes a strong statement while matching any outfit and situation, from casual to black tie. It’s made of solid aluminuml with a double layer elastic strap and a micro fibre suede lining. The wallet is available in four color options: Gold, Silver, Metal and Midnight. The Belgravia measures 8.5 x 5.4 x 0.5 cm and only weighs 25 gr.

The pure novelty of this wallet is that it can hold coins, unlike most of the card wallets. It’s a compartment behind the cards, which serve as a kind of lid to the items in the coin slot. The Belgravia can hold up to 10 cards, thanks to the elastic strap. The double layer elastic strap allows you to separate your notes and cards under the top and bottom layers, with the soft elastic making for quick and easy insertion and removal.

The Belgravia also has an RFID blocking foil laminated into the coin slot to block the theft of your data from your cards.

This month I have also two projects, that didn’t make the top five, but I also wanted to bring them under your attention.

The first one is The Wallet by STAK – unique spring-back minimalist wallet.

This wallet is a simple rectangular wallet with a clever mechanism hidden inside. No fastenings, no flaps, no fuss.
The reason I want you to know more about this wallet, is its material; cork. As a wallet material, this is rather an exception between all the leather wallets. Also I like the design; it’s simple and sleek when you don’t stack too much cards in there.

They just canceled their Kickstarter project, unfortunately, but you can check it out on their website!
