The wallet to keep your pockets slim and your stuff organized – with a coin pocket!
Some time ago I reviewed the Nano Boy of Jaimie Jacobs (read here). The Nano Boy Pocket is like an update or continuation of the Nano Boy. Instead of the bill and coin compartment of the Nano Boy, there is an actual coin pocket with a push button on the back.
Design
The design of the Pocket version is quite similar to the Nano Boy. It also consists of the elastic and the S-shaped ribbon with the leather details on the pull-tab. On the back there’s the coin pocket, which is a pretty straight-forward pocket. The pocket closes with a pull-tab and is made of a supple leather which makes the flap easy to handle. The pocket is lined with a classy branded burgundy fabric. In this you see the eye of detail that’s inherent to a brand like Jaimie Jacobs.
Quality & Finish
As stated in the previous review they claim they only use the best materials and premium leather. As you read there, this is a very qualitative product. It’s very pleasant to use and has an impeccable finish. Their products also get a 10 year warranty, which is quite a lot for a wallet.
Storage Capacity
The wallet consists of one easy access compartment for your primary card, one larger compartment for your other cards (up to 12), which also can be used for bill and one coin pocket to store all your coins.
Features
The features that make this wallet different than others are the S-shaped ribbon that creates the two compartments and the coin pocket. The S-shaped ribbon is very innovative because it creates the two compartments but is also used as the pull-tab. When using the pull-tab, the easy access compartment isn’t affected by it. The coin pocket is very handy. It’s very nicely finished and very pleasant to handle in a flexible leather.
Usability
The wallet is very practical and easy to use. The easy access compartment can be handled with one hand as promised. The larger compartment contains all your other cards that can easily be extracted by the pull-tab. The pull-tab works as expected, although I’m really surprised the system inside which doesn’t affect the other compartment.
Innovation
The innovations are the S-shaped system as described above and the coin pocket. Really astonishing that only the larger compartment is reacting on the pull-tab, while the other part of the ribbon which forms the easy access compartment isn’t changed by using it.
I hear what you’re saying: “How does a coin pocket is an innovation?” Well it’s not the concept of a coin pocket that’s the innovation, it’s the fact that they dare to attach a coin pocket to a wallet with minimalism and slimness as key terms in the design. And they succeed to maintain a certain slimness to it. It’s a bit larger due to the extra pocket with flap on the back of course, but it doesn’t bother me.
Final verdict
This is, as the Nano Boy, a very pleasing wallet. Especially with the coin pocket, they tackle an issue that occurs a lot with card holder wallets. There’s often no room for coins in these kind of products. If you like a wallet with a coin pocket and you don’t want a bulky, big wallet, then this is the way to go. It’s the ultimate front pocket wallet with a coin storage option.
